Minn Heima is my first completed animation. It is both rough and direct. It was made for a competition landed by Icelandic band Sigur Ros, but was by no means meant to be animated. I was still at university at the time and had two weeks to complete the video and always loved animation. I had very little equipment, only paints, paper, crayons and a small compact camera on a tripod.
There is no clear storyline to the song chosen. Much like its non-existing lyrics, the film explores feelings more than words and the story grew as I painted. All the frames were painted on a large sheet of paper fixed on the wall, so each frame had to dry in order to paint the next one. It is basic animation but life really bursts out of each frame, freeing the magic of stop-motion.
The video took the second place of the competition.
